Vic: Three charged in drug raid

A two month police operation has resulted in the arrest of three people alleged to
be major drug distributors in Melbourne's east.

Police have seized around $30,000 worth of cash and some heroin in raids on premises
in North Ringwood, Fitzroy, Burwood and Collingwood.

A 29-year-old man and 23-year-old woman, both from Ringwood, and a 51-year-old man from
Fitzroy have been charged by police this morning with possession and trafficking of heroin
and amphetamines.

Senior Constable PUGH says the arrests should impact on the local drug trade.

Sen Const PUGH says it's believed those arrested are major players in the area and
their arrest should see a major dent put in the heroin and amphetamines trade in there.

The gangs are alleged to have been distributing drugs in Ringwood, Knox, Lilydale and Croydon.

They will appear in court this morning.
