Fed: Beazley accuses govt of playing man, not issue over economy

CANBERRA, April 2 AAP - The government was playing the man rather than the issue when
it accused Labor of talking down the economy, Opposition Leader Kim Beazley said today.

Mr Beazley said an opposition had little or no impact on the thinking of anyone in
the money markets until it had an opportunity to run for office.

"This is their play the man tactic, and it's so obvious it's pathetic," Mr Beazley
told journalists.

"Blame them and take the focus of yourself.

"What the Australian people want is a prime minister with a ticker for governing ...

and this prime minister is out of touch, out of ideas, and looking for scapegoats."
