WASHINGTON -- The Republican Party's control of both houses of Congress will boost the policy agendas of defense, drug, tobacco and energy companies, analysts say.
The Republicans won back the Senate and added at least three seats to their majority in the House of Representatives last week, giving President Bush the chance to push his agenda for fighting terrorism and Iraqi arms threats, making recent tax cuts permanent, and expanding insurance coverage for prescription drugs. In the Senate, Republicans will take over the leadership of key committees from Democrats.
