Qld: Tough bushfire season forecast
Queensland fire officers are bracing for an early and tough bushfire season.
Emergency Services Minister MIKE REYNOLDS has told state parliament the bushfire seasonhas started early and there are signs it's going to be a bad one.
Mr REYNOLDS says huge tracts of Queensland are under threat of bushfire, with peoplein metropolitan areas just as much at risk as those in rural areas.
Mr REYNOLDS says near-record low levels of rainfall across the state and forecastsof further dry conditions have fire authorities on high alert.
A number of bush and grass fires have already threatened rural properties, with thefire service revoking permits to burn in the south-east at the weekend.
Mr REYNOLDS says fire experts are especially concerned about bushland areas in rural-residentialareas.
